A day later, after breakfast, I went to meet Tuhin. I walked into Mrs Aditi’s room and found her sitting on a chair.

‘Good morning.’ I said loudly.

Immediately she turned to me and smiled gladly. ‘Good morning.’ She said as she stood up from the chair. ‘How’re you, Bablu?’

‘I’m fine.’ I answered.

She pushed the chair towards me and said, ‘Come on, sit on this chair.’

I sat down on the chair like an obedient boy.

‘What about Rima and your daughter Arpita?’ she asked as she sat down on her bed.

‘Both of them are fine.’ I answered.

‘Okay, next week I’ll go to meet Rima.’ She said.

‘Why next week and why not today?’ I asked with a smile.

She smiled gladly but before she could utter a word, Tuhin walked into the room with a folder in his hand.

‘Good morning, Bablu.’ He said.

‘Good morning.’ I said with a pleasant smile.

‘Now take this folder.’ He said as he gave the folder to me. ‘There are legal papers in the folder. Get the papers signed by your Dad as early as possible.’

‘Okay.’ I said after taking the folder from him.

‘Bablu, you be here. I’m going to bring tea for you.’ Mrs Aditi said as she stood up.

I looked at her and said politely, ‘You don’t have to take so much trouble. I’m your son-in-law, not a guest.’

She smiled gently and went out of the room.

‘Bablu, I’m in a hurry today. I’ll talk to you later on.’ Tuhin said.

‘Okay.’ I said as I shook my head.

Tuhin smiled pleasantly as he left the room.

After some time, Mrs Aditi returned with a cup of hot tea and some Laddoos. ‘Bablu, I’ve made these Laddoos for you.’ She said.

‘How have you made these Laddoos so quickly?’ I asked.

She smiled gently and answered, ‘You’re still a kid, Bablu. Is it at all possible to make Laddoos in five minutes?’

I remained silent and stared at her.

‘Last night I made these Laddoos.’ She said.

‘Oh, I understood.’ I said with a smile.

She laughed gladly.

A moment later, I ate three Laddoos and then I began sipping tea.

After returning home, I discussed everything in detail with Rima. She had a wonderful idea and accordingly I went to meet Dad.

‘I’ve good news for you, Dad.’ I said after entering his room.

‘Good news for me?’ Dad asked in surprise. ‘Are you sure, Bablu?’

‘Yes Dad, I’m sure.’ I said.

Suddenly Mother walked into the room. ‘What are you discussing about?’ She asked.

‘Mother, I’ve good news both for you and Dad.’ I said.

She smiled gently.

‘One of the reputed NGOs of our country wants to construct a big school on our vacant agricultural land.’ I said. ‘They also want to construct a big library for the underprivileged children after demolishing the old house. In return they are ready to give us three crores.’

Mother raised her eyebrows. ‘A NGO wants to construct a school.’ She muttered.

I looked at Dad and found him staring at me.

‘It’s a huge amount, Bablu.’ Dad said very seriously. ‘Anybody can kidnap one of us and can ask for a huge ransom.
